the information in a format that you find acceptable. Below you will find
information on how to download documents, change text size and turn off
graphics.
DOWNLOADING DOCUMENTS
To download files click on the associated link. You should see a
dialogue box asking whether you wish to open the file or download to your
computer. If you wish to open the file directly, you can do so. If not, save
the file to your computer's 'desktop' or other folder.
If you cannot open the file you may not have the appropriate software. You
can download
Adobe Acrobat Reader
— free software that enables you to view and print .pdf files. (Please note
that if you are accessing from a work or public PC you should contact your
IT dept before downloading).
Adobe also provide accessiblity tools and advice for users with visual
impairment.
NB A 100 KB size file should take around 15 seconds to download over a 56kbs
modem.
TO CHANGE FONT SIZE
Internet Explorer
Go to 'View' and select 'Text Size' and select the appropriate size text, eg
'largest'
Adjust as appropriate
Netscape Navigator
From the main menu, go to the 'View' menu and select 'Text Zoom'. Select the
appropriate size text, e.g. 'Larger' Netscape also allows you to choose the
size of the text as a percentage of the original, eg 150%
TO IGNORE GRAPHICS and allow your page to
download more quickly:
Internet Explorer
From the main menu, go to the 'Tools' menu and select 'Internet Options'
Go to the 'Advanced' tab
Scroll down the settings until you reach 'Multimedia'
Untick the 'Show pictures' option
Click 'OK' to close the 'Internet Options' box
Netscape Navigator
From the main menu, go to the 'Edit' menu and select 'Preferences'
Select 'Privacy & Security' then 'Images'
Under the heading 'Image Acceptance Policy' check the option next to 'Do not
load any images'
Click 'OK' to close the 'Preferences' box
